Too much travelling

A long-expected and somewhat dreaded phone call today – nothing disastrous or upsetting, but I have to go to Lahore as soon as possible to sign some documents that must be done in person. I spent the evening trying to work out when I could go. At first it seemed that I would have to travel the morning after our return from Jogja and return to KL the morning before we left for Phuket. Finally, it was settled that we could delay slightly so my current plan is a long weekend in Jogja, a week and a half in KL (with guests), a long weekend in Phuket (or, correctly, Ko Phra Thong), a couple of days in KL (with guests), then a week in Lahore. Only after this would I have time to breathe. I made all the bookings and confirmed the date when I could come for the signing (which had to be coordinated with the lawyers as well as my siblings who have to be in the room) and then learned that the GF had been planning a trip to Sabah for us over Chinese new year, the day after my planned return from Lahore. If we do this it’ll mean that for two months I will have continuously been travelling and/or hosting guests, which feels excessive for someone as anti-social as I. (Leaving aside the possibility that others in my family might choose to visit). And if we don’t, then I suppose I’ll never have a chance to visit Sabah given the likelihood of leaving Malaysia in the coming year.

Anyway. All this meant that I missed out on watching the first episode of The Americans, which I had been looking forward to for months, as the GF and his mother were ready, primed with cups of tea, while I was making the travel arrangements.
