I had my first taste of telemedicine today, as I’d made an appointment for a service the GF (and family) gets through work. It was a UK service, of course, and it was notable after yesterday how distinct GP interactions are in the NHS compared to private systems. There was no surprise or shock here that I’d waited more than a week to consult a doctor, and there certainly weren’t recommendations for more scans etc, just to wait for test results and then perhaps go see a doctor for a prescription if I wasn’t feeling better already. Also a bit of disapproval of a spot of self-medication I’d already done, for which, fair enough. Generally, though, a smooth and moderately helpful process, though I must say seeing a doctor in person is far preferable, other than the whole having to go to a clinic or hospital and wait around feeling simultaneously grimy and covered in rubbing alcohol.
