Spa day

Yesterday was spa day, and thus very hectic. First, my hour with the personal trainer, then a quick shower and dashing off to a salon to get my arms and legs waxed as the spa would require bare limbs. Then dash back to find the GF in the shower, so made my tea. Then took a shower, then drank my tea while hunting for my swimming costume. We left. Took the metro found a taxi with some difficulty, reached lunch, just north of Yeniköy. Lunch was copious and leisurely, and full of conversation, which is tiring when one is basically a recluse, then off to the Grand Tarabya to make use of their spa. This was a vast, quite new space, very hotelly, and would make an excellent set for a slasher film. There was no one else there, so we had a swimming pool (technically 4, but one was a paddling pool and two were outdoors), a steam room, a sauna, an ice machine, a cold rain shower, a hammam with two sub-hammams, a relaxation room, and about 30 showers, all to ourselves. I gather it’s usually like this, so our host’s membership felt rather good value for money.

I’m not much of a spa person, so tried everything and then got tired of it, and also found the swimming pool a bit cold. Since it was set to 27 degrees, I assume I have been spoiled by SE Asian seas. I’d like to have just read a book for a bit and had some tea, but since our host was paying, I didn’t.

Pleasant, but a tiring day.
