Sad news

The GF and I stepped out for an early spring stroll, on a pleasantly warm day, and stopped at the flat where they were busy plastering over the electrical wiring and the plumbing. It is really coming together beautifully and now, for the first time, I can imagine living in it.

While I was there a message arrived: someone I have worked with for many years has died of the coronavirus. She was the admin head at an organisation I’ve done a lot of work for over the years, so I had come to know her fairly well, as she was the one who sorted out everything from my contract to which desk I would sit at. So, very sad indeed. She had a lovely smile and a gentle voice.

Thank heavens, my father and grandmother both got their second doses this morning. It is one of the Chinese vaccines, since Pakistanis don’t merit the fancy shmancy ones whose trials have been published, leave alone the mRNA ones, but it is better than nothing, I hope.
