Sometimes, at dusk, Lahore gets this strange otherworldly glow. It’s like that right now: quite dark in this neighbourhood where there are many trees and lush greenery, but overhead the sky is like an inverted copper bowl. Dusk is a distinctive time for Punjab anyway – if you’re in the countryside there is a quietness that falls, with smoke rising from still windless fields and settling just overhead. Very distinctive – that one is a winter speciality.
Last night I went to dinner at a pair of newly weds’. It was not my favourite evening out, I must say. But I hope I’m wrong.
It has been a full working weekend for me. I took on an unexpected bit of work due tomorrow, and it added to something else that has been lingering for a very busy few days. And next week/weekend look set to also be very busy, sigh. The amount I work seems heavily disproportionate to how much I earn.
