To, well, Brunei. We leave tonight. It’s not the most compelling holiday destination so I am afraid I am filling up my Kindle and my iPad with reading material, downloading podcasts and generally expecting not to have much to do. We decided to go for a long weekend, unfortunately it is over the Gentleman Friend’s birthday weekend, and it will certainly not compare to last year’s trip to Flores, with his birthday spent swimming after manta rays off the island of Komodo.
We finished the current season of Better Call Saul the night before last. It was a bit disappointing in the second half, as though things were happening because they were to happen rather than because because they emerged organically from the characters. The first half of the season was excellent though and there was at least one superb episode in the second half. I do wonder how long it will continue and where it will go: there is no single logical end point that would cover all the storylines given the length of time that must elapse between Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and then there are the ‘flash-forwards’ Jimmy/Saul/Gene’s life post-Breaking Bad.
One has to feel Walter White will show up at some point though.
