Long day

Yesterday I had a second class with the new teacher and while she is very sweet and also very good, spoke to the owner of the school that I’d prefer to return to the old teacher. At the time she said yes certainly, though we will see what happens. I was then up late at night, working, and went to sleep without down time between working and bed. As a result I woke up at 4.30 with mind racing, and didn’t go back to sleep till 5.30. Of course I then had to wake up at around 7, so it was an interrupted sort of night.

Today, there was a new student, an American woman with a Pakistani father and a British mother who is in Oaxaca to learn about traditional weaving. She was quite pleasant, and actually with this teacher having a second student worked fairly well since what I had liked about the previous one was conversations and playing with language rather than being taught, which was more possible with two students. She did a fairly good job of keeping us both engaged, I think.

The GF is not particularly well at the moment; at first he thought it was food poisoning or something but is feeling such a lingering malaise that it’s not clear what is up. I think it’s either frustration with the world or an infection, probably the latter. Hopefully the latter, because if one does not get used to the world as it is, it’s a recipe for ulcers. (Or would have been before they discovered that an antibiotic clears them up).

This afternoon was spent dealing with my bank and my UK mobile phone which had managed to expire without my realising it. Most annoying, but the phone at least seems sorted, though I fear that my bank card might be blocked thanks to the irritating new regulation on sending text messages to confirm online transactions. Damned hassle.

I suppose I’m feeling the malaise too, though it’s more a perpetual undercurrent of annoyance.
