This week’s tai chi lesson opened up today and managed to revive my interest in it after a slow start. This is the fourth week and for the first time we had a sequence of moves, in a flow. A pleasant change from week 1 (standing), week 2 (swinging arms) and week 3 (standing). At first the move seemed impossible, but gradually we got the hang of it. I’m still quite jerky in transitioning from one position to the next, but at least I can vaguely do it.
This morning, or rather midday, I ventured out in the heat, discovering along the way that in the height of summer the best time to walk up Istiklal avenue towards Taksim Square is before the sun reaches its peek as the road curves in such a way that there is always shade. After noon, however, half the way is fully exposed, with no shelter. I had to go to the bank as we had to pay for some marble etc for the flat. That done, I returned stopping at a few shops and coming back with a dozen cotton undergarments, two nail polishes (!), a stick of kajal and a bottle of shampoo. Thus checking off several items of a long-standing shopping list.
