The morning was frantic. I woke up at 5 to finish up some work which had to be sent to a higher office for comment and having lost all of Monday to busy-ness I was far behind; moreover, materials I had requested had not come in before so there was a constant stream of emails once the office opened, with materials needing to be incorporated into the document.
Of course this meant that I didn’t start packing till half an hour before we were to leave for the airport, and had to do it simultaneously with locating my belongings spread around the house, organising wedding presents, locking up wedding clothes, spending some time with my grandmother and others and swallowing a quick lunch of maghaz with pai.
Annoyingly, my eczema seems to be coming back, most annoyingly, on my face. I intend to experiment with taking an anti-histamine before going to bed.
Anyhow, we got to the airport where the flight was not unacceptably delayed, about half an hour or so. It was the first time in a long time I had travelled as part of a group, though till 17 it was the only way I had ever travelled. My sister and I, both accustomed to travelling extensively on our own, had our rolling suitcases and a pre-set way of managing them efficiently, but the rest faffed around with porters and trolleys that felt very odd. In any case we arrived in Karachi where there was a message waiting for me that the higher office had said they lacked the staff to comment on the document, so all that rush was for nothing. Still, good to have it finished.
Dinner with the Karachi aunts and then off to bed.
