Hand work

We’re going to London in a month or so. Last time I took some time to go off to Devon by myself, this time I’ve booked myself weekly lessons on making Japanese style woodblocks. I wanted to do something physical, so not writing or learning something, and also creative. The other option of this sort was cyanotype, which I decided against because even if I enjoy it the chemicals mean it would not be very portable or doable. Not that I expect to spend much time whittling away at wooden blocks but it’s more likely than cyanotype. Then, practical options were knife sharpening and plumbing, of which the latter would be more useful and the former would remove a daily annoyance.

Japanese woodblock it is, though if I am feeling extravagant I might still do one of the practical ones.
