Today was my first trip to the flat, and my first opportunity to see it look and feel close to finished, with lights and switches everywhere. Quite exciting. The reason I was there was the kitchen installation by Ikea. So I sat on the plastic covered sofa in one half of the living room while in the other the kitchen guy sawed away, and in the kitchen itself the boss measured and installed. It was immensely dusty and noisy, and in the end the kitchen was more or less done. Our wooden countertops may be horrifically impractical but they do look nice, at least for now. Tomorrow the white goods arrived and, with luck, the kitchen should be up and running after that.
One thing did send me into a fury, which is that the bed we’d had made to a specific design was nothing like that design. So we have instructed them to take it back, please, we don’t want it. Very poor.
Also, we had very nice croissants, though I didn’t eat anything else until dinnertime.
