There was thunder in the morning, passing overhead, and cold rain and wind. The rain and wind continued all day, it was like being in London, and will be very cold for the next few days, I think.
I’ve been settling back in Lahore life in a more active way than was usual in recent years. Today I have done some work, arranged a tea with a friend (which was cancelled), a lunch with my grandmother, a visit for a brother-in-law, a family gathering and a dinner in honour of a newly married cousin, climbed to the topmost roof to investigate how the water motor works, sorted out one of the closets bulging with clothes and threw out a good many of them, arranged for an electrician to fix a plug socket and a plumber to fix a defective tap, bought a bin for the bathroom, babysat a couple of nephews and picked the oranges off the tree in the garden. This is much more the sort of busy life I enjoy in Lahore, and perhaps it’s easier for me to enter it because I’m here for a few weeks
