I only realised just how damp Hanoi was when I arrived in Bangkok and opened my suitcase and everything felt soft and moist. I draped all my belongings all over the flat, and thanks to the heatwave it didn’t take too long.
Well I suppose I should have realised it – my hat, bought in Taipei during the pandemic, was covered in mould and I threw it away when packing to leave.
A month here in Bangkok, by myself. The flat is pleasant: bland and beige as most of these places are, but has big windows that look out onto trees and a garden instead of traffic or concrete. A pleasant change indeed.
