Now we’re at the tail end. A hornbill that, unfortunately, looks like roadkill, competes with a bull.
Party flags V
Now we get to the religious parties, and what I think is the best flag qua flag, that of PAS, the religious party. It was all over Terengganu a couple of months ago, and looked quite impressive. Also impressive, in a different way, is the flag with a brain on it.
Party flags IV
Ah, finally we get to the Pakatan, previously the underdogs and eventual winners. A couple of good ones here, starting with the Eye of Sauron that is the coalition and PKR flag, and the superb rocket. The rocket is one of the best, and had it not been for the fact that it doesn’t look […]
Party flags III
Here we come to the outer circles of the Barisan. Another superhero flag, this time for a Doc Manhattan figure, plus the inexplicable Muslim Congress rose.
Party flags II
Some more Barisan flags here, mostly from East Malaysia where they go in for certain iconography: outline maps, outlines of Mt Kinabalu, and handshakes. I like the MyPPP flag the best on this page; it’s basically a superhero insignia.
Party flags I
I collected images of all the Malaysian party flags before the election, but my snide commentary on them was promptly rendered outdated by the election result. However, the flags are generally of a very high standard (and some of an exceptionally low standard), so I might as well start posting them for posterity’s sake. We’ll […]
Self-preservation
I have another cold. Not a bad one, but enough that I’ve lost my appetite, feel unwell, couldn’t sleep last night, feel unwell, and have had a bad headache all day. I did manage to convince myself for a short preiod that I was going into toxic shock, rather than a mere cold, which suggests […]
An example
An example of what I find to be Malaysia’s somewhat horrific, yet fully publically accepted, xenophobia. A news item in the Star: Almost all foreign workers in study carry food poisoning microbes.
Election night
I went to sleep around midnight. There was still traffic on the roads, and when I looked out of the window towards one of the city’s main roads, I saw motorcycles and cars zooming past with party flags fluttering. I watched for a few minutes and counted dozens flying the red, blue and white Pakatan […]
Masters hunt
Woe is me, the psoriasis is back. I should perhaps have not stopped using the medicine. In better news, I got a small contract, a rush job that I hope will lead to more work in the months to come. It also has me looking for education masters degrees. Sadly, having lived outside the UK […]
