Midnight calling

Got caught up at the margins of a situation yesterday – a former colleague whom I barely knew included me in an email shot to people in KL about a Pakistani woman, uneducated, at risk of extreme domestic violence from her husband. The woman herself called me at 2 in the morning and I spent […]

NOOOOOooooooooo………

My hairdresser has disappeared! After a very long search I’d found someone I quite liked, who was silent and just gave me the haircut I wanted without faffing. And now he appears to be gone. Sniff. The hunt begins again. What a disaster. Not quite Brexit proportion but far more immediately inconvenient.

Judex

Watched the truly mystifying Judex last night. The GF put it on saying he wouldn’t tell me what it was but I had expressed an interest in watching it. Even if he had told me it would still have been a surprise as the Criterion case made it sound like a smart, stylish and occasionally […]

And another

12 Rabi-al-Awwal is live too. Please pardon the execrable drawing not to mention complete inability to use an Apple Pencil. This is why I don’t write and draw under my own name.

One inch up goes live

Gilead on its way

Finished The Handmaid’s Tale last night. After a circular path towards TV series-dom it ended as the book did. The final episode was very good, a reversion to the earlier ones after a few which did the backstory thing that caused the middle bit to sag. The worst of these was the backstory of how […]

Back to work

Back to work after a long weekend with more activity than usual. I’m still stiff from Bukit Tabur. We booked our flights to Dili over the weekend, though there is some concern that a volcano in Bali, where the flights connect, may disrupt our plans. Well, too late to worry about it; it was even […]

Along the dragon’s back

We did go to Bukit Tabur yesterday, rising at 5.30 to be there by 6.30 – too late for the sunrise, which was spectacular even fromground level, but early enough that it never got to too. It was a short, steep hike and had me panting in the early bits as I don’t take too […]
