Aneurysm

Nearly had one today when I finally got hold of the accountant and it turned out he hadn’t done what he was supposed to during the fortnight I was away because it slipped his mind. Never mind that his previous forgetfulness has led to a penalty imposed on me which I am trying to get him to clear up. Anyhow, I have set reminders to hound him until he’s cleared that penalty up, and then will fire him.

Other tasks for today went well at least: bank work is all done and most of the jewellery work was also completed, although I noticed a flaw that will have to wait till my next trip to be corrected.

And now to fill out a tender and try to find work for someone who needs a part time job.

And get the house cleaned properly, arrange English language education for the servants’ children, inspect some furniture repairs for the showroom, take my grandmother to the doctor for what appears to be gout, get some fabric dyed, give power of attorney for a matter of family business, find a new accountant, edit a dissertation, complete a policy analysis, get locks for my belongings, have some blinds taken down and repaired, and a million other things, all whilst having time for tea and sociability.

Such a peaceful life I have out of Pakistan. But this is definitely more energising. I’m not sure which I prefer. The difficulty is moving from one to the other.
