The photo is of my post lunch snack: oolong tea and a sesame ball, neatly arrayed on a little tray my sister gave me as a birthday present. Lunch was curry chee cheong fun from the downstairs market from a stall with a gloriously self-mocking Chinglish sign. It was very tasty and I see now why this stall always has a long queue.
My haleem is bubbling on the stove and must be watched carefully as the pot is a little too small – indeed, I couldn’t pour in the 12 cups of water required and have used only 10. It still looks very watery though there are still a couple of hours of cooking time to go.
