Rewatched Get Out. What a fantastic film. This time, of course, I watched it knowing what was to come, having thought about it for many months and read other people’s thoughts, so it was interesting to see how it was all put together. I also noticed the careful, confident ratcheting up of absurdity this time, with it all coming down in shards in the final scene.
The GF’s friends left last night. It was a tiring weekend, though I did manage to spend some time in hiding. Nevertheless, every meal was a group meal. Last night’s was steak at Isetan, which I enjoy but wasn’t really in the mood for (normally I crave meat, which the GF and his family generally don’t have much of). Well, they are gone.
As is my application. Let’s see how it goes.
It seems that I will have to travel to Pakistan in the next couple of weeks, either between our Jogja and Thailand trips, or after the Thailand trip. It’ll be expensive and hectic and delay my planned passport renewal (I only have 1-2 pages left), but necessary, unfortunately.
We had the opportunity recently to buy, at very good terms, a flat in London. After some thought we have decided to say no. The mechanics were a little too complicated, and neither of us have much interest in property ownership. Well, the GF more than I do, but he is also far more in a position to buy property than I am. Personally, I can’t imagine life after 50 anyway, so that is my cutoff for what little planning I can manage.
