I collected my new sari blouse today and was in awe. It is not a perfect fit, but what a piece of engineering compared to the blouses we have made in Pakistan. It is basically a brassiere handmade to size. Certainly one can’t wear anything underneath it. I was particularly impressed by the eyes for the hooks: they were triangle-stitched fabric integral to the fabric of the blouse itself. I also admired a kanjivaram sari with a subtle weave but bright colours the shopowner had purchased for her daughter, and wanted one for myself.
