For the third weekend in a row it was dominated by Mah Meri spirit carvings. We went to the Petronas Gallery where there were a few on display and the GF bought some to add to his collection. A couple of the carvers were present and they told us the stories of the spirits we bought. My favourite, the one I insisted on, was an elongated one that looked like an anchor with a small bird perched on it. It turned out to be a bird that was thirsty and then an ancestor opened its mouth for it to drink from. A rather lovely image. I will post a photo when I finally get it, in a couple of weeks – we didn’t have space in our bags to carry it back without damaging it, so the person we were buying from promised to bring it over.
There was also a painted wall, with some post-its (presumably from the general public). This was one of my favourites, though I also liked another which was a picture of an empty road, with a post-it saying ‘This is a very good road but it should have some traffic lights, cars, people, animals and trees.’
We went on to lunch with a couple of friends and then back to the flat where I have been working flat out for several hours. It’s a busy week ahead. And now to bed.
