A bit of very sad, even horrific, news this morning. The personal trainer came this morning and when I asked after his family, he told me that his daughter, born in February, and whose delivery I helped with, died in late August. She had a fever and they took her to a doctor who injected her with something, and the baby died on the spot of heart failure. They’re waiting for the postmortem result, but suspect she was overdosed. It turns out the ‘doctor’ was an unqualified quack so my trainer and his wife are doing the rounds of police stations and courts trying to get their case heard. Meanwhile the quack is still running a flourishing clinic. When my personal trainer went to report the quack for practicing without a license (or indeed a graduate degree), outside the health department he was greeted by a man who assumed he was there for the opposite purpose and said ‘if you want that report to vanish, I can help.’ There is no justice, no law in this society.
