Our plagues continue as last night a very large and deadly-looking spider ensconced itself on the stairs, which are themselves very dark, so it was pure luck that the GF spotted it. I’m afraid we killed it.
This happened about 10 minutes after the latest appearance by the frog. I noticed it sitting on top of the mirror and gradually it slid down the side, then rapidly rappelled down an invisible rope half-way down the wall. At this point the GF, who was washing dishes around the corner, let out a bark of laughter at his podcast and the frog sidled across to peep around the corner at him. It then leapt towards the door and clung onto it. We took the chance to open the door but it refused to be shooed out until the GF emitted a ferocious howl and the frog leapt into the darkness.
(As I was typing this I looked up and saw the frog, or at least a frog, sitting on top of the mirror.)
Yesterday we went to Kampot. The GF was supposed to go but I joined him, taking along my computer to work on the way. The finest feature of Kampot is its durian roundabout, with a magnificent durian at the centre surrounded by smaller worshipful fruit.
We topped up our phones (much needed as the internet at this house is unreliable), then went for what were supposed to be very good dumplings but were average at best. Then to the best cafe in the area, which was above average for the area, but not fantastic. Here I took my calls, did a bit of work, chatted about the egg crisis in the US, and discussed the development trajectories of Malaysia and Poland. Then we returned.
