I’m back. In Cambodia, where I’ve been for a bit over a month, before that in Thailand, and still before that in Indonesia where I felt terribly guilty about not blogging as I spent most of my time either in the Banda islands, or trying to get to the Banda islands, or trying to leave the Banda islands. Getting there involved taking a Pelmi boat, a slow Indonesian government ferry that I’d heard of only because I’d read an article by an anthropologist once.
While in Cambodia itself I have been overwhelmed with work, after an unusually long spell of holiday in Indonesia. I’m doing some work for an organisation I’ve worked for before, this time for their office in Iraq. It has kept me working from 7 in the morning to 8 or 9 at night, sometimes later, and I also have my other work ongoing. Not the best decision, but it does pay well.
We are in Kaep, a seaside town known for crab (we are out of food so will go out for crab tonight, aiming to be back in time for my 10 o’clock meeting). The place we are staying is very pretty, with big airy balconies and a little swimming pool. Kep itself I have not seen much of, and the GF and I are somewhat nervous as his mother is joining us and we want her to enjoy it. Tomorrow and Saturday we’ll explore a little (the weekend in Iraq).
Anyway, I’m back now.
