Nearly done

The GF sent a flurry of pleased messages as he sorted a number of long-pending bits and pieces. A delivery from Ikea included a nice mop (a small but important development), the washing machine was repaired, the air conditioner returned (we decided to give up on installing it), the fan in the spare bedroom was repaired, the kitchen shelves are all up and have lighting, and a chair we ordered a couple of months ago arrived. It is all tremendously pleasing. Now we have a couple of built-ins which should arrive in a few weeks, then the main thing left will be repairs to our bathroom after a water leak upstairs caused some damage. I also am increasingly thinking of installing a water filter since the pipes in this ancient building are sure to be lead.

Meanwhile here in Lahore I had a quiet and somewhat tedious working day. I was editing something I should have known not to take as the writing can be close to incomprehensible due to a perfect storm of disciplinary jargon, unfamiliarity with English and what familiarity there is being with a notoriously jargon-y dialect. My one outing was to the ATM but at least I now have cash and can have the pleasure of watching its value diminish before my eyes.
