Bad timing

I chose to restart the blog on the most uninteresting day possible, one where I was working all day (and indeed late the previous night), didn’t manage to leave the flat one, and the only respite was to make dinner as it was my turn. I did discover the wonders of steaming, though, something I’m always rather sniffy about. I made some masoor daal (for some reason it didn’t melt, though it did last time, also there was no red chilli and I slightly over-salted it); some chard (like a desi bhaji, again no chillies of any description; some leftover roasted vegetables (to which I added lots of parsley as it was the celery filled type I’m not so keen on), steamed purple sprouting broccoli (tossed in some sambal where, blessedly, there was some chilli), and some rice (forgot to salt it). All of it fairly average fare, but it gave me the chance to finish up a few podcasts. Of these the least notable was the last of the 2021 Reith lectures, on AI. An interesting subject, but I feel one where they should have invited an actual ethicist instead of a celebrity computer scientist who also does ethics.

Twitter was sold to Elon Musk, which made me grumpy. Not only is the man himself profoundly repellent, I’m really not happy with the idea of these global media outlets being owned by individuals, especially those belonging to thoughtless techno-utopians.

So and so.
