Today it truly felt like we’ve reached a sort of end game. The electrical work was completed, the gas has been connected and it really feels like we could move in now. Tomorrow and the day after there will be some minor touching-up of paint, a few leftover bits like the installation of the kitchen door, and then on Saturday afternoon a cleaning company will come for a professional deep clean and we will move in that evening.
During the day I’d felt rather oppressed – both by work and by the flat, so it was nice to feel excited, and to look forward to something that has occupied us for a year to be done at last. Nearly.
Work also somehow felt a little more manageable. I had a conversation with my line manager at one contract, which has provided some clarity on work to be done in the months to come (and a possible acontract extension), while the Belize work also feelt a bit more doable after another late-night call with the people I’ll be working with.
