I made a funny tofu dish today which turned out surprisingly pleasant. It had tofu, turmeric, dill, a stick of cinnamon, chillies, fish sauce and lemon juice. So maybe slightly Vietnamese tinged? Anyway, it was good.
Today is a lockdown so the streets were quiet. It was also a little cloudy all afternoon, so cooler than I liked. I am ready for summer now.
I also received my invitation to book a vaccine in London. I was surprised that the text message specified the vaccine – AstraZeneca. I would have thought they’d not mention it, but I suppose it’s better to be upfront than to have people kicking up a fuss at the vaccination centre. Coincidentally, today is also the day that people travelling from the UK do not have to enter quarantine in Turkey and there is no quarantine on the other side. Mystifying, considering the raging case numbers here. I was briefly tempted to book my appointment and fly off to London, but there are a few problems, most notably that travel out of the UK is restricted and I am not sure that a flat renovation is considered sufficient reason.
