Grumpy

Second day in the enclave. I am slightly grumpy today as the stir of excitement of meeting others I knew, and reminiscences, faded. Now it’s to work, to navigate all the inconveniences of working for a large organisation, and several months ahead of it.

The office has a cafeteria which serves a fairly mediocre lunch and I sat down at a table which had a couple of women who made me feel very old indeed. One had been in the Karachi office and remembered me from when I had visited – about ten years ago. Another was very new and said that her boss – who does precede me – had often mentioned me.

Next week I will try to remember to bring my own lunch.
