I have developed a very sore wrist and arm, and am worried about RSI. I suppose I had it coming, but today I took all sorts of measures. These included:
- Posting on Metafilter to ask for keyboard recommendations.
- Selecting an ergonomic keyboard, to be purchased from Canada or the UK depending on the bother and prices.
- Selecting a trackball online.
- Downloading the trial version of an RSI software that makes you stop for breaks. I must say, I have found it very useful as it also acts like a sort of (what are they called? Tomato timers?)
- Working on a chair at a desk instead of cross legged on the floor with my laptop on my lap (though when we settle down I shall get myself a low desk so I can work on the floor, I am not meant for chairs.
- Raised the level of my chair so that it is high enough to be suitable for computer use.
I must say, it has already made a difference, though of course I shall have to be careful.
