On Saturday, which felt like Sunday, I went for a stroll through the barrio of Jalatlaco, just outside centro, which I’d heard was a particularly pretty little neighbourhood of Oaxaca: quite historic (formerly the leatherwroking quarter), but also pictureque, with many murals. It was a pleasant stroll, though nothing really out of the ordinary. it reminded me a bit of a similar neighbourhood in Macau, with colourful houses and cobblestone streets, but without swarming hordes taking photos at all the best bits. I ended at the Mercado de Merced, which was also pleasant but nothing out of the ordinary, and had an empanada for lunch. Then back to do some work, prepare for an early morning call, handwash some clothes, etc etc. Not the best day I’ve ever had, but well enough.
