Back to school, redux

Woke early, had a leisurely breakfast and then walked the 2 minutes to my Spanish lesson. It is on the same street, conveniently close by, and is located in a small house overseen by a rather flustered but kindly woman and a handful of teachers. There were three other students at the school, luckily all of them more advanced, so I had a teacher to myself. There is much to be said for travelling in the low season. Anyhow, I have a rather lovely teacher, a young woman who does belly dancing, so I expect I shall have a full vocabulary about dance, if nothing else. The three hours passed very quickly, and there was a lot of ground covered, so I am rather worried about rapidly falling behind, especially since memorisation is not my strongest suit, and any language requires masses of vocabulary. Well, let’s see. If it stays one on one then I am hopefull it’ll be ok, though it is rather tiring, and I am somewhat nervous about when my heavy workload returns. Not to mention masses of homework.

It is invigorating to actively try to learn something rather than passively, and somewhat uncaringly/ carelessly, absorbing information from books and lectures. Definitely engages a different part of the brain, one that welcomes the exertion.

It is also nice not to have to face an exam at the end of it.
